Occidental Petroleum Conducts Record-breaking Well Test in the Middle East

The esteemed energy corporation, Occidental Petroleum, has achieved a significant milestone by successfully completing the drilling of a near-field exploration well within Oman’s onshore Block 65.

According to the chief executive, Vicki Hollub, the production test showed an impressive delivery of 6000 barrels of oil equivalent per day.

During the company’s quarterly earnings call, she mentioned that this was the highest initial production test in Oman in the past decade. She also highlighted how our subsurface characterization techniques are proving beneficial globally.

According to Hollub, the well drilled in Block 65 is now producing and being sold in less than a month from when it was completed.

She described the achievement as nothing short of a “record.” She mentioned that it’s a positive development indicating the Middle East’s intense production. She also said more chances for drilling additional wells like the one in Block 65 in Oman.

Hollub mentioned that the company received this specific block in 2019. The company is optimistic about the opportunities in a country where it is the “largest independent producer”, working closely with the Ministry of Energy.
